Peter G Thompson of the Salisbury & District Natural History Society (SDNHS) is organising a River Dipping Event on Wednesday 26th August 10am – 12 noon.
This is a joint meeting between the Wessex Rivers Trust and the Salisbury and Tisbury Natural History Societies. Come along and find out the about secrets of the river Nadder – what animals lurk in the shallows, from small fish to dragonfly nymphs and caddisfly to lampreys! Meet at Upper Chicksgrove. Postcode SP3 6LY. What 3 Words: Blurts.Takeover.Alley. There will be green SDNHS directional signs. A free event to which children are particularly welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult. invited to join a special river dipping event on the 26th of August at Chicksgrove, organised in conjunction with Salisbury and District Natural History Society and Wessex Rivers Trust. For further details, keep an eye on social media/website or get in touch closer to the date.  Our next event is on Saturday 25th July at 10-12pm. We will meet at Catherine Ford Bridge, Dinton. David, who is leading the event, will take an invertebrate sample from the river which will then be emptied into large trays so that the children and parents can see the life in the river. The sample will include invertebrates which are indicators of water quality and small fish.
The children will then be allowed, under supervision from their parents, to use their own nets in the shallow water to also collect their own samples for investigation. It should be a really interesting morning along the river bank with lots to explore and identify. Contact us if you'd like to come along! |

Young Nature Watch (YNW) is a branch of the Tisbury and District Natural History Society (T&DNHS). YNW is free for under-21s! Young people always have priority at any of our activities but accompanying adults are required for under-12s.
