A very special thank you to member Abby Eaton, for the stunningly beautiful photos of birds, all taken in and around Tisbury, which now brighten our pages. This page: Gadwall.
Coronavirus: As you will imagine, all our talks and field trips are suspended for the time being. But there's a lot going on in the natural world and our nearby countryside so we hope to be able to suggest DIY alternatives to our planned FIELD TRIPS. Please go to that page first - links will be consolidated on the OTHER USEFUL WEBSITES page.
We will also include under NEWS anything that catches the eye, so that you too can look out for it.
Welcome to the Tisbury Natural History Society
If you are not yet a member, we hope that you will find on this website encouragement to join. If you are a member, we hope it will enable you to enjoy your membership more. The site is updated regularly around the 10th of each month, but of course other updates are made whenever necessary.
We have monthly talks from Autumn to Spring and walks during the Spring and Summer. We always welcome new guests and members to join our very active Society. The price for attending a talk is £2 for guests (free for members) and membership for the year is just £10. You can become a member at any of our talks, or by emailing email@example.com.
As well as advance information about the talks and trips we organise, we will include whenever possible accounts of these, so that those who couldn't come know what they missed. Just hover over (ie, don't click on) the appropriate page in the menu above, and this will take you to 'What you missed'.
We also very much hope that our members will contribute to the website: for example, you will notice that each page features a different bird. We would like in the future to change this 'theme' - to amphibians, flowers, mammals, plants, fungi .... even back to butterflies, where we started. So please do send in your favourite photographs or - now that we've upgraded this site - videos, for us all to enjoy. You will of course be credited as the photographer. Or send in an account of something that interested you, for our 'Open to members' page.
